Ocean Prime is a staple of Larimer Square. It’s no wonder that Ocean Prime is always filled with guests, they treat everyone with the utmost respect and prepare exquisite dishes keeping their reputation as one of the best seafood spots in Denver at number 1. This week, we’re highlighting some of the acclaimed dishes on their eclectic and impressive menu.
The Black Orchid
What’s in it: Belvedere Wild Berry Vodka, St. Germaine Elderflower Liqueur, Hand Squeezed Lemon & White Cranberry Juice.
Why you should order it: This cocktail doesn’t just have beautiful presentation, but it tastes delicious too. Starting your meal off with this sweet mix of flavors is a great choice. Additionally, the orchid frozen inside an ice cube is such a rare and special touch. You really can’t find a cocktail quite like this one anywhere else.
Ahi Tuna Tartare
What’s in it: Avocado, Ginger Ponzu, Sesame Seeds
Why you should order it: You’d have a hard time finding anyone at Ocean Prime that wouldn’t recommend their famous Ahi Tuna Tartare. It’s easily one of the most ordered dishes at the restaurant and for a good reason. The ginger ponzu sauce offers a tangy, citrusy taste. Also, can you ever really go wrong with avocado and fresh tuna?
The Cucumber Gimlet
What’s in it: Bombay Sapphire Gin, Muddled Fresh Cucumber, Hand Squeezed Lime.
Why you should order it: If you’re looking for something with a refreshing taste, but also something that will send your taste-buds into overdrive, this is the cocktail you need in your life. The Cucumber Gimlet is light, delicate and paired nicely with seafood. It’s worth trying with The Prime Roll.
The Prime Roll
What’s in it: Tempura Shrimp, Cream Cheese, Scallion, Beef Carpaccio
Why you should order it: Obviously if you’re heading to a seafood restaurant, sushi is a must. This roll came highly recommended by our server and she was absolutely right about it. The Beef Carpaccio added so much texture and flavor to the roll. We wanted another immediately. If you’re debating between sushi rolls, go with this one. It’s an Ocean Prime’s specialty.
What’s in it: Parmesan Risotto, English Peas, Citrus Vinaigrette
Why you should order it: For those who want to enjoy a rich and filling entrée, this is the one for you. The scallops are seared to perfection and lay in a savory parmesan risotto. Not only are the scallops fresh, but they’re hearty too. In addition, the citrus vinaigrette compliments the seafood exquisitely. The Sea Scallops make a nice entrée to either split or have for yourself.
What’s in it: Corzo Silver Tequila, Fresh Squeezed Orange and Lime Juice, House Infused Agave Nectar
Why you should order it: Tequila lovers rejoice! The Tequila Cocktail is tangy and sweet at the same time. The glass is lined with a combination of sugar, salt and cinnamon giving it a delicious kick. This is a great drink to have mid meal. It also paired really nicely with both the lobster tails and the sea scallops.
Twin Lobster Tails
What’s in it: Asparagus, Drawn Butter
Why you should order it: Whoever said that lobster was an East Coast thing was wrong. Ocean Prime perfects this dish and makes you feel like you’re sitting on a beach in Cape Cod. The presentation of the two tails is flawless and the flavor is fresh and rich. Sprinkle some lemon on top, dip it in the drawn butter and sit back while your taste buds go to heaven.
