One of Denver’s most popular events, Dining al Fresco, returns this summer to Larimer Square. On July 22nd, August 19th and September 9th, the award-winning restaurants on the block will extend their patios onto the streets for a one-of-a-kind dining experience. Under the twinkling lights, guests can enjoy the company of one another while being intermixed with other diners from the various participating restaurants.
Dining al Fresco Through the Years
The concept of Dining al Fresco has stayed relatively the same since its premier debut back in 2010. Originally called “Affair on the Square,” the event featured entertainment from the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. In 2012, the event evolved into “Larimer Square’s Summer Film Series”. It became the ultimate date night offering guests both dinner and a movie. A giant screen was installed on the block for viewers to watch classic movies as one big audience. It wasn’t until 2014 that Dining al Fresco became what it is today.
Over the years, the list of restaurants participating in Dining al Fresco has only expanded. This year’s participants include: Bistro Vendome, Corridor 44, Cru, Green Russell/Russell’s Smokehouse, Ocean Prime, Osteria Marco, Rioja, TAG, The Capital Grille, Tom’s Urban and Ted’s Montana Grill (participating solely in the August and September dates).
In addition to the usual festivities occurring during Dining al Fresco this summer, Russell’s Smokehouse and Osteria Marco have teamed up this year to create an auction. The two restaurants will be eating, drinking and raising money for charity with their Dining Al Fresco VIP Experience. Russell’s Smokehouse and Osteria Marco are each auctioning off a four-person dining experience for each Dining al Fresco date. The money will be donated to the Neurology Department at the Children’s Hospital Colorado. For more information about the auction, visit this link.
Another special event is Green Russell’s 2nd Annual Tiki Party on July 22nd. Guests will be able to sip from freshly cut coconuts and pineapples, toast with mai-tais and enjoy island-inspired bites. The doors will open at 5pm and live music from the Royal Aces will start at 8pm.
Lastly, the annual Peachy Sidewalk Sale will be going on from July 21-23. Over the course of the weekend, Larimer Square shoppers will be able to enjoy free, fresh Colorado peaches while they walk the block and shop the most significant discounts of the season. After a great day, visitors can put on their favorite new outfits and show them off during Dining al Fresco.
There is a lot to look forward to during the Dining al Fresco season this year and we look forward to being able to enjoy the beautiful summer nights and other special events on Denver’s iconic block!
